Project Support Engineer

Full Time – UK Head Office

applied acoustics is a manufacturer of high value marine-related electronic-acoustic products that include subsea and surface positioning and tracking systems, and a market leading range of seismic survey equipment.

Established for more than 35 years the company has an international client base across many industry sectors that is supported by a global distributor network. Today the business is made up of 50+ staff members headquartered in Great Yarmouth (UK).

Due to business growth we have a vacancy for a Project Support Engineer to join our team.

Job description:

The successful candidate will be working with the engineering design team to provide engineering support, attend and conduct system testing, support clients onsite and compile milestone reports. Some limited away from base or offshore time will be necessary, for trials, system testing, client training, demonstrations and product evaluations.

A diverse role which will develop application knowledge to support both internal and external clients with in-house systems, applications and development.

Responsibilities:

Engineering support of design engineering projects

Plan, perform and compile reports on field trials of systems in-house and client-facing

Plan, perform and compile report on system testing

Provide key feedback to the engineering team

Support client-facing system testing

A member of the project team assisting with project management

Requirements:

Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject

Good communication skills

Ability to travel unhindered domestically and internationally

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Observant, inquisitive and have an ability to solve problems

Proficient with 365 Office applications

High standard of written and spoken English

Good attention to detail

Desired traits:

Experience of Acoustic Systems (preferably underwater)

Job description:

We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, engineering development, and systems.  The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of key projects within the organisation.

The successful candidate will work with our engineering design team and interface with clients to deliver engineering projects.


There will be limited away-from-base or offshore time necessary for trials, system testing, client training, demonstrations and product evaluations.

Responsibilities:

Manage technical projects from initiation to completion

Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets

Lead and coordinate the project team’s activities

Communicate project status to stakeholders

Identify and resolve project issues and risks

Ensure that all project deliverables are met on time and within budget

Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and budget

Investigate slippage and refine processes

Compile project documentation, conduct audits, and review project performance

Requirements:

Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject

Experience in project management within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

Good understanding of engineering principles and technical software.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks

Leadership, communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills

We are seeking a talented and motivated Electronics Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be involved in the design and development of our in-house systems.

The engineer will be working alongside other members of the design department to deliver innovative products for subsea and offshore sector.

Responsibilities:

Designing and prototyping electronic circuits and systems

Leading design and or collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate systems into larger products

Working within our ISO 9001 framework to produce product documentation, including test specifications and procedures

Conducting testing and troubleshooting to ensure product quality and reliability

Staying current with industry trends and advancements in electronic engineering

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in ‘Electronic and Electrical Engineering’ or related field

Strong understanding of electronic circuit design principles

Proficiency in CAD software for circuit design, simulation and PCB layout

Proficiency in programming of MCU and PIC devices

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly

Desired traits:

C / C# language skills

Experience with DSP / FPGA coding

Experience of Acoustic Systems (preferably underwater)

Experience of RF circuit design and analogue electronics

Strong mathematical or physics background
